L is for Lady Gaga

She is everywhere, it is impossible to turn on the radio and not hear a Lady Gaga song. In fact, as I am writing this, I am listening to her song. She's unstoppable, you would think that people would start to loose respect for her after she comes on stage wearing a one piece bathing suit and high heels. But no, the fans keep coming.

To tell you the truth, her songs aren't that bad, but they can be a bit repetitive. And then there's the obvious. Her songs are really dirty and what I mean by that is sexually inappropriate. Just imagine this, it's a Saturday morning and I'm on my way to hockey practice. My dad and I are sitting the car and there's an awkward silence. I try to make it a little bit less awkward by turning on CHUM FM. That's where everything goes downhill. It turns out, that there is a Lady Gaga song that comes on. It also just so happens that it is one of her most inappropriate songs yet. Poker Face. Then my dad says something along the lines of "Who sings this song?" or "What's this song about?" I then have to say something like "I don't know, I've never heard it before." Just to avoid somewhat of embarresment. That is why Lady Gaga should make her songs less dirty.

Finally, I would like to talk about her costumes. WOW!!! I don't know if I have ever seen her wearing anything that covers her thighs. I mean seriously, get some clothes. It's up to you if you want to wear skimpy costumes, but her costumes passed skimpy a long time ago. The costumes she wears are not just skimpy, she wears barely anything at all. But surprisingly, she doesn't get criticised as much as I thought she would. I think the reason she doesn't get criticised is because she is very creative. Her costumes do sometimes represent her songs, but I think most times it is because she feels the need to show extra cleavage and leg. Which I don't really think is necessary.
I will keep listening to Lady Gaga, but I think she needs to take a reality check, and realize that the more she wears those skimpy costumes and makes those dirty songs, the more respect she will loose.
Life Lesson: Don't wear skimpy costumes on stage.

T is for T.V.

"Hey Alex, did you see Jershey Shore last night?" "Of course, Snooki has to just chill. I mean seriously, why do you think they call him The Situation?" That could be a typical conversation in the morning, after another exciting episode of Jersey Shore the night before. T.V. is a big part of our lives, and I'm going to try to explain why.

It used to be amazing if you owned a television set, but now it is amazing if you don't. Ever since I remember, there has been a T.V. in my house. I have not always been watching it, but it has always been there. I started watching shows like the Tellitubies and Barney, but then go into Aruther and Magic School Bus. The point is, is that ever since we have been young, there have been shows directed towards our age group. Now there are shows like Little Eintsein, and all those other new and modern baby shows. There are a lot of parents that do not agree with letting their children watch T.V. at such a young age, but others think it is a great idea.

Next time you have a lot of spare time, flip through the T.V. channels, check how many reality shows are on. There is a ridiculous amount of reality shows on these days. I don't want to sound like some grumpy man who hates reality shows, because there are some great ones on, but there has to be a limit. One of the reasons they are kind of ridiculous, is because there are some reality shows about making cakes. I mean seriously, how many people want to waste an hour of their life watching people make cakes. Don't get me wrong, the cakes look really cool, but still, is it worth a making a T.V. show about it.

Talent shows. Remember those things. That was the time that you could show your class how good you are at singing or playing the recorder. I remember when I was in the talent show. I was in grade 3, and I got onto the stage and played Amazing Grace on the recorder. Talent shows are all fine and good when you are in Lower School, but when you are 40 years old and start crying because you got eliminated off of America's Got Talent. Even if you did win, people aren't going to pay money in Vegas to see you hoola hoop for an hour. There are some artists today that have had a career because of American and Canadian Idol. For example, Kelly Clarkson has a great career because of American Idol. I think that T.V. talent shows can be great, but sometimes are annoying and pointless.

I think that T.V. is great, and is an amazing thing, as long as we don't abuse it. And don't just watch reality shows, have a bit of flexibility because reality shows will start to get on your nerves.

Life Lesson: Watch the new season of Jershey Shore which premiers on July 29th, now they're in Miami!!!

B is for Blogs

When I first heared Ms. Weldon say that we were going to start using blogs, I kind of had mixed emotions. Part of me was like "SWEET!!", but then there was the other part of me, which was like "OK, lets try this". But after the first week of blogs, I loved it and couldn't wait to post my next one.

As you know, there are some people that are famous for writing blogs. One of these people is named Perez Hilton. Basically, Perez has nothing better to do with his life, so he writes about other peoples. But surprisingly he gets to go to all the celebrity parties, and even award shows like MMMVA's. But the sad thing is, is that his blog isn't even that good. I bet if Ms. Weldon had to mark his blog, he would get like a 60%. Like seriously. Maybe that says something about our society though. Maybe it means that we are so desperate to know about how much weight Miley Cyrus gained, instead of actual important issues.

Next time you have to search something on google, pay attention to how may of the results that come up are from blogs. This is especially the case with image searches. There are a lot of people who have created blogs in the past year. I think this is because there are a lot more people who are going on the Internet so they look at a lot more blogs. I don't think that is entirely true, because how may times have you gone on the Internet and looked up a blog (other than Perez Hilton). I can understand if you write a blog about a trip you just made to Africa to help the kids with AIDS, but honestly no one gives a rats bum what you had for lunch and stuff, because honestly God invented Twitter for a reason.

The reason that I think I like doing blogs so much is that it is new to me, so it is a good experience. The reason I say it is good experience, is because the Internet is becoming a larger part of our lives, so the more experience the better. I also like the blogs because it is different than anything I have ever done before. Finally, the other thing I like about blogs is the fact that you are able to comment on other peoples blogs, so you can tell them your opinion, and how they can maybe make their posts better.

That is why I think blogs are a great idea for school purposes.

Life Lesson: Blogs are awesome

G is for Golf

When I tell most people that my favourite sport is golf, they mostly say something like " really, golf is so boring", but I think it is a lot of fun. I this blog I am going to talk about three things: My life plan as a golfer, why I enjoy golf and finally, why I think everyone should try golf.

First, I would like to tell you my life plan as a golfer. My plan, is to attend Stanford University on a golf scholarship. I know, you're probably thinking "dude you would have to be like pro", but I plan on joining the CJGA this year. The CJGA is the Canadian Junior Golf Association. In the CJGA, you compete in a number of events, and of course try to win. Also this year, I am going to get a Junior Membership as a part of Clublink. Clublink is a group of golf courses across Ontario. After I am out of University, I am going to have to go on the Q Tour. The Q Tour is the Qualifying Tour, which is where people from the PGA come to decide if you should become pro or not. I will not be on that Tour for a long time though, because they will want me on the PGA Tour ASAP. As a rookie in the PGA, I will win The Masters, and become the youngest player ever to win a major. After that, I will go on to win more Majors than Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus combined. I know this sounds kind of unrealistic, and it probably is, but you know what they: SHOOT FOR THE STARS!!!

Second, I will be talking about why I enjoy golf. I enjoy golf for many reasons, one reason is that it is very relaxing when I play golf. Although it is relaxing, it is still very hard, but I know the pros make it look sooooo darn easy, but trust me it's not. I also like the game of golf because there is no better feeling, than driving the golf ball 200 yards down the centre of the fairway, the feeling is just indescribable. I know that sentence makes me stupid, but it's true and if you don't believe me, then you go out and test it out for yourself. Finally, my favourite part about golf is spending time with my dad. Again, it probally sounds cheesy, but it's true. Everytime I play golf with my dad, I walk ooff the 18th hole, with great memories with my dad, that I will treasure for the rest of my life. That is one thing that I left out of my life plan: spend time with my kids doing the one thing I will love forever, playing golf.

Lastly, I want to tell you why you should try golf. First of all, I think you wold like it. Just because you think it is boring to watch, doesn't mean it is boring to play. Kind of like baseball, I hate it. I would rather watch grass grow, then watch even one play of baseball(sorry Damon, but it's true). But I must say, I do enjoy playing some baseball with my friends. I know some of you think it would not be a challenge to play golf, but it is, and I don't kknow if I am alone on this, but I like a challenge. Finally, it is fun to play golf. Again, I know it doesn't look fun, but when your playing it, it is really enjoyable and exciting.

That is why I love the gae of golf and want to play it for the rest of my life. Someday I hope you all will try golf, and find out that it is a great sport.

Life Lesson: Whenever you can, try golf.

D is for Drums

"Mommy, I want to play the drums."

That's how it starts. First, you get into the little two-drum drum kit, then the problems start with the full on hard rock kit. As you might have guessed, I play the drums, and I am going to be telling you a little bit about them.

I have been playing the drums since I was 7 years old, and I have loved it ever since. Like a lot of other things, I look up to people who are great at what they do.I look up to a lot of drummers, including my own drum teacher Mike Emson. Mike specialises in guitar, but he is a great drummer as well. I also look up to some of the greatest drummers of all time, like Keith Moon, John Bonham and Neil Peart. All of those drummers are amazing, I hope to be like them when I get older. I find that as I get more experienced as a drummer, the more fun it becomes to play them.

One of the main reasons I enjoy drumming, is because the sound of the drums. I have always enjoyed listening to drums, and trying to figure what drums can make what sounds. I also love the feeling you get when you I play the drums, it just feels so natural and great sounding. Another great reason for playing the drums is that you can take all your anger out on them. And the best part is, is that it still sounds great!!! I enjoy playing the drums for many reasons, and those are a few of them.

The drums are an excellent instrument that are very fun to play, so if your parents don't mind the noise, then I would really recommend playing the drums.

Life Lesson: The drums are a lot of fun to play, but make sure you wear ear plugs.

A is for Auleen Carson

"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother."-- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865).
I think that this quote explains how important a mother is to a person, because it says that everything you are or ever will be, is because of your mom.

As you might have guessed, Auleen Carson is my mom, and she is really important to me in a lot of different ways. First, is because I have known her for all of my life(obviously), and she will be in my life for a long time, but sadly not forever. Overtime you start to grow a relationship with your mom that you wouldn't have with anyone else. This relationship is special, because you feel so close to that person that you feel that you can run to them when you need help or are in trouble. That is the first of many reasons why I love my mom, and why she is extremely special to me.
The second reason why my mom is important to me, is because personally my mom always finds the positive side to every situation. I say personally, because I am not sure that every mom does that but I am really thankful that my mom does. The fact that my mom finds the positive side to everything is really important because even when I am feeling really sad, and have a frown on my face, my mom finds a way to turn my frown upside-down, and make me happy again. I think finding a positive side to every situation is not only a good skill to have as a mom, but as anyone. You can even use that strategy in sport too, to make your team happy when you just lost a game. But the point is that it is rare to see me frowning, when my moms around.
In conclusion, I love my mom sooo much, because we share a relationship that is irreplaceable, and she always makes me smile and laugh. I love you mom.
Life Lesson: Love your mom with all your heart.

H is for Hockey

At the age of 7 I started to play hockey in the Acton House League, not knowing if I was going to like it or not. I have been playing ever since, and I love it. Throughout the years I have improved my playing and learned a lot about the game. I still play in Acton and this year I started playing with the Hockey Club at school.

In my first year I barely knew how to skate and hold a stick, but I was really excited to try playing. The first year was difficult but I stuck with it and had an open mind. In my second year I won the Most Improved Player award on my team. After the second season I realized that I really like the game of hockey and wanted to continue playing. I continue to play House League this year but I am now in an age group that involves checking, and this makes the game even harder. This makes the game harder because you always have to keep your head up and be on the lookout for anyone coming to check you. Before I thought that checking was just throwing your body at people and hope that you don't get hurt, but there is an actual proper way to check. I have definitely learned my lesson after being called for many elbowing and boarding penalties throughout my checking career.

At the school we have a Hockey Club, where a group of students and teachers from SJK go to scrimmage at a local arena after school on Fridays. This is my first year playing at the school and I am really enjoying it. I am the youngest player there, but after only a couple of times going out to play, my coach has noticed an improvement in my game. At the hockey club, the players are really amazing, and I have definitely learned new things from them. I have also learned new things from other kids around the same age as me who share the same admiration of hockey that I have.

I think hockey is a sport that everyone who is able to should play, because once you start playing it you can't stop. I like hockey because it is great exercise, it's a fast game and most importantly it is lots of fun. I am really happy that I tried hockey when I was 7, because I turned out to really love the game.

Life Lesson: Try new things, because chances are that you will end up loving them.
